The original owner of this Lexus picked it up from the dealer on Sept 1, 1991 with a full tank of gas.  He first bought gas on 10-3 (1.289 per gal) when the car had 276 miles.  He recorded those events and every gas purchase or service in a spiral notebook with the last entry 7-29-09.  The first owner died and the 2nd owner purchased it from his estate with 17,149 miles on Feb 23, 2011.  His first gas purchase was on Mar 1 (3.599 per gal)  and like the first owner, he recorded every fill up or event in the life of the car up until I purchased it in June of this year with 27064 miles.   I think the 92 SC400 is one of the very best cars ever produced and have probably had 20 including a new 1992 when they first came out. I really don't know why I bought this car since I have five other vehicles and so this one has just sat since I didn't want to add to the ultra low mileage.  I realize it is going to be years until this becomes a true collectible and at 77 years old I realize that probably will not be around so see that happen so rather than just have this set and deteriorate I will sell it.  I have only driven the car between where it is stored and home a few times but it drives like you would expect of a true quality car with this mileage.  The 2nd owner purchased new tires in 2011 and they have about 10,000 miles on them.  I listed this one time before but set an unrealistic reserve so this is no reserve.

How to drive yourself to the World Cup

Fri, 11 Jun 2010

It's no secret that Americans will make up the largest contingent of visitors to South Africa for the World Cup 2010 soccer tournament. The vuvuzelas (plastic trumpets played by fans) are getting louder by the day. Knowing how most of us think about trips to Africa, it's very likely that many of us will be doing more than just watching men kick a football about.

Land Rover testing electric Defender 110 pickup

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Land Rover has begun testing an electric version of the Land Rover Defender first shown at the 2012 Geneva motor show. The electric Defender prototype is in service at the Eden Project in Cornwall, U.K., a complex of several large transparent domes that house multiple artificially maintained environments containing thousands of rare plants, and is a popular visitor attraction. At the moment the electric Defender isn't exactly tearing through the Amazon rainforest, but the work it's doing is nevertheless a good approximation of how quite a lot of Defenders are used in real life -- at least in terms of speed and duration of use.
