Vauxhall has released details of the Insignia Sports Tourer ecoFLEX But performance is not quite the Holy Grail it once was for car makers. Times are more constrained, and more headlines get attached to the ‘Eco’ versions than the performance versions. So when Vauxhall announced the Insignia ecoFLEX back in April, it got as many – if not more – column inches as the Insignia VXR did (if not with quite the passion!).

The Toyota Prius+ – the 2 seater Prius Toyota are bashing on with the extension of the Prius brand as well as the extension of the hybrid drive train in to their regular model range. But probably the big Geneva news on the Toyota hybrid front is the public debut of the Toyota Prius+, the European version of the Prius V we saw at Detroit and the first Prius to offer enough seats to party in. The new SEAT Leon Ecomotive (pictured) is the most frugal Leon ever The new SEAT Leon Ecomotive – which debuted at Frankfurt last month – has now gone on sale in the UK and boasts of being the most efficient Leon ever. Available in 3-door SC, five-door and Touring versions, the Leon Ecomotive manages to improve economy and emissions over the already frugal regular 1.6 litre TDI by cutting emissions to 87g/km, equal to 85.6mpg. Part of the improved economy and emissions is down to weight saving – SEAT are claiming the new Leon  Ecomotive weighs 90kg less – low resistance tyres and improvements in aerodynamics of ten per cent.
