The Aston Martin Lagonda name has been resurrected again, but this iteration promises to be far less controversial than the 2009 SUV concept. Created for a select group of Middle Eastern clients, this large three-box sedan (dimensions haven't yet been made available) offers a well-judged balance between the current Aston Martin range and the idiosyncratic 1970s Lagonda by William Towns. Its proportions are very extreme for a luxury sedan, with a cabin sat far rearwards behind a very shallow A-pillar.

McLaren quickest in practice for 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton put the disappointment of Australia behind him to dominate Friday practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The opening F1 Grand Prix of the year in Australia last week saw McLaren take an impressive first and third with Jenson Button doing his best Alain Prost imitation to dominate proceedings, with team-mate Hamilton managing third after a poor start. Ford posts best June sales performance in down market

In a month of sandbagged auto sales, Ford was the clear winner. The Blue Oval posted a sales decline of “just” 10.7 percent in June, in a market that fell nearly 27.7 percent. It was by far the best showing of any major carmaker, helped by strong sales of its Fusion sedan and Escape crossover.
