Rolls Royce Ghost – Undisguised

Rolls Royce Ghost virtually undisguised out testing in Germany

This spy shot of the new Rolls Royce Ghost was grabbed with the baby RR out testing in Germany, and gives us the best view yet of the new RR4. For the first time we get to see the stainless steel bonnet option the Phantoms get, and get a much clearer feel of it’s presence. Yes, it is clearly a sibling of the Phantom, but it seems better proportioned. The car looks more purposeful and ‘Sporty’ than its big brother – altogether a more cohesive style.

The last shots we had of a Rolls Royce Ghost were at the Dover Docks, and that car was a solid colour and, being in a line of queueing cars, it was hard to get a good feel for it. But I like this. It does work as a design, which I wasn’t sure it would in the real world. The ‘Dumbo-Ears’ wing mirrors don’t look odd here, and the car looks slimmer and more elegant.

With its new 6.6 litre V8 producing over 500bhp, the Ghost is now heading rapidly towards production, and will show officially at Frankfurt in September, before UK deliveries start. Expect the Rolls Royce Ghost to start at around £185,000, neatly traversing the price point of its big brother the Phantom, and its ‘Donor’ sibling – the new BMW 7 Series.
