Here is a C. M. Hall Lamp Company model #204 kerosene lamp for automobiles.  The main body of the lamp is ferrous, probably stamped steel, but the very top with the logo, the handle, and the bottom skirt/kerosene reservoir are, I'm assuming, brass. It is about 9" by 6" by 6" and weighs 3.75 pounds. These were made in Detroit Michigan during, I believe, the first part of the 20th century. I've seen #204F's listed, which are dual kerosene and electric but this model is kerosene only.

It is in original condition so the paint is showing its age but, except for some dings on the handle, is in very good shape physically. I have not tried to unscrew the reservoir or turn the wick feed or the set screw in the boss where the mount would go and have not tried to fill or light it.The lens has a tiny chip on the very edge but is in great shape otherwise, as is the red jewel in the back. There is one tiny ding in the lens door and the hinge is no longer attached to the body of the lamp (the lens/door assembly are snug and secure when closed). All in all, a very nice, untouched original.

Please check the photos carefully as they are part of the description. It is solely the buyers responsibility to be sure this item will be correct for a given application or collection. The item is the only thing for sale in this auction - the photo of the 3 different vintage lamps is only to show two others I have for sale right now on eBay.

Avoiding the California Highway Patrol on the Autoweek America Adventure

Sun, 30 Oct 2011

"Damn revenuers," said Tommy Kendall. "They are draped all along the side of the road." He spoke, of course, about the California Highway Patrol, whose strategically positioned cars--and subsequent laser-detection devices and KA-band radar--were lighting up this two-lane south of Klamath Falls, Ore., less than two miles inside the state line. It's a fact of economics, especially in California, a state that's running out of money faster than Greece.
