Fisker Surf Shooting Brake Fisker will reveal a Shooting Brake version of the Fisker Karma at Frankfurt today, the first new model we’ve seen in the flesh from the eco-car company for some time. And no, this isn’t project Nina, it’s the Fisker Surf. The Surf Shooting Brake is Fisker’s answer to cars like the Ferrari FF but is really their response to the observation that three tons of batteries in the boot oif the regular Karma only leaves enough room for a toothbrush and a pair of pyjamas.

Further images and details of Toyota's FT-86 Open concept have been revealed ahead of its unveiling at next week's Geneva motor show. The FT-86, a rear-wheel-drive sports convertible, previews a potential future development of the GT86 sports coupe. Toyota is using the concept, which measures in at 4,240mm long, 1,775mm wide, 1,270mm high sitting on a wheelbase of 2,570mm, to gauge public reaction while carrying out engineering tests on a prototype.

Who's Where: Gerry McGovern to head Land Rover design

Land Rover has announced that Gerry McGovern will take over as Design Director for all Land Rover design with immediate effect. Current Design Director, Geoff Upex, is to retire from the company at the end of 2006 after 23 years service and, to ensure a smooth handover, will continue to play a key role in the launch of new products including the all-new Freelander2/LR2 over the coming months. Gerry McGovern has been Director, Advanced Design, Land Rover, since 2004 and has spent the majority of his career with Land Rover and Rover Group in UK, apart from a short period with Lincoln-Mercury in the USA.
