European Parliament: electric cars must make noise

The European Parliament has voted in favour of a European Commission proposal to decrease the maximum allowed noise for new cars, vans, trucks, buses and coaches, in an effort to reduce “vehicle noise nuisance” by 25%. At the same time, the EU has voted in favour of a proposal to force carmakers to fit electric and hybrid electric vehicles with a sound generating device, to improve low speed safety for pedestrians and the visually impaired. Kia Red Rock Special Edition Soul joins lineup

Kia has added another Soul special edition to its lineup, inspired by the rock formations in the southwest United States. It gets a unique exterior color called canyon, while the interior gets its own styling as well. The Red Rock Special Edition was introduced at the 2011 New York auto show, and then toured the United States to gauge customer demand.

The new Volvo V40 leaks ahead of a Geneva debut We have the first photo of the new Volvo V40 – leaked from a Swedish Car Magazine –  ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. We had a tease for the all new Volvo V40 back in December (actually, there has been another since, but it was nothing but a black shape so we ignored it) and we’ve had spy video of the V40 too (although we still thought it would be the V30 then). And now we get what is almost certainly the first photos of the Volvo V40 that will debut at Geneva.
