Please note -- this eBay auction and price requires that we receive your core unit before we ship.  Flat Rate Price includes all necessary parts.

KX-170B or KX-175B flat rate EXCHANGE or REPAIR.  Returned unit will MEET OR EXCEED FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS.  A very sick CORE (red tagged) unit with multiple problems is usually OKAY... so long as the problem is not physical damage, such as water damage.

No charge (zero dollars) to evaluate your CORE unit.  Ship it in for assessment.  We will need to examine your core before shipping our unit.  Use a shipping box that has plenty of padding on the front and rear of the unit.. use a box at least 17 inches long, padded with (paper, dense foam.. etc.)  The front and rear of the radio is easily damaged if the box is too small.  After packing the KX170B, shake the box, if the radio moves around.. it could be damaged in shipment.

Aviation experience since 1972.  FAA Repairman and FCC General Radiotelephone license holder.  KX-170B's that meets specs are excellent radios.  Six month full labor warranty.  The KX-175B pictured is a fully refurbished unit including an optional cosmetic upgrade.

NOTES — KX170B's will NOT auto-eject from the mounting tray by turning the tray locking screw counterclockwise.  When removing the KX-170B/KX-175B series radios, take care not to use excessive force on the tray locking screw.  Comm MHz channeling switches may be fractured by the tray lock tab resulting in a more difficult repair.  To remove the radio... turn the locking screw appx one turn counterclockwise, then pull on the channeling knobs.  A side-to-side motion will help with removal.

More notes — The second picture is a burnt audio board.  This is a common happening.  There is a tantalum capacitor that shorts (the blue one in the photo with one leg lifted).  (The capacitor in your unit could be black or orange).  Originally it is a 100uf 15 Volt capacitor that MUST be replaced with a 20 Volt component.  Most yellow-tagged radios do not have this King Service Memo installed.  We install the higher voltage capacitors in all radios.. especially after a 15V cap exploded in a small fireball on the work bench.  The third picture is a data plate from a newer KX170B.  (Notice the blue letters.  Blue is new.)  The fourth picture is a data plate from a KX175B of older vintage.  Most older radios need hardware and other parts before they will meet specs.  Expect longer repair times on older units.

— All 360 channel KX170A, KX170, and KX175 radios are NOT legal for use in USA registered aircraft... therefore we cannot accept a 360 channel radio as a CORE unit.  Some credit is offered for a 360 channel radio.  If flying in the outback of Canada.. etc., we can supply a refurbished 360 channel radio.  International customers.. please do not use UPS since they charge a $33.00 customs fee.

Below is a link to the FCC website listing non-legal radio equipment.

Buyer beware, an electronic item purchased without a warranty is actually a parts box that looks exactly like a radio.  Many types of failures will render a radio uneconomical to repair.  Some radios sold AS-IS have over-voltage or H2O damage making them unacceptable as a core (..they may never fly again.)  To ensure that your core is okay.. please send-in your unit first before you bid.  No fees will be charged except the freight to return your radio.  What we are saying is: if you buy an AS-IS radio, you may not be very happy --don't assume that anyone will ever be able to repair an AS-IS radio.--

You may include a check of $300.00 with your core unit.  [285.00+15.00 shipping]  The check will not be deposited until the core unit is evaluated.  Some
customers prefer to send two checks, one for 15.00 (for return shipping .. in the event the uniis damaged beyond repair) and one for 285.00.  We also take Paypal.  If shipping via the Post Office, the Medium Flat Rate box is too small safely ship a KX170B.  At least three inches of padding on each end of the radio prevents damage.  If you want to watch your radio fly, watch the freight handlers throw your radio though the air.  I gasped as I watched boxes being thrown at a sorting facility.

Panda Success Is Snow Joke

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

TO CELEBRATE the milestone of 500,000 sales over three decades, Fiat has launched a special edition of its current generation Panda 4x4. Badged ‘Antarctica’ the car boasts extra standard kit plus some unique design features and is limited to 300 examples. Available from March and priced from £14,895 the special edition Panda is, unsurprisingly, being offered in white while the car’s stand-out details include a black roof, orange detailing and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato gets green light

Sat, 12 Mar 2011

Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato to go in to production When we counted up the number of cars that appeared at the Geneva Motor Show this year it came to over 200. Not all the cars were new arrivals and many were a bit dull. But one we did miss was this rather appealing Concept Fiat 500 – the Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato – which is not just a Zagato take on the 500 but an entirely new Fiat 500 shape – the 500 Coupe.

Hey Craig Jackson, how did the auction go?

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Plenty of people were surprised this week that the original Batmobile sold for $4.6 million* at Barrett-Jackson. And few were more surprised than Craig Jackson, the ringleader behind the mega-million-dollar auction in Scottsdale. The last time we spoke to him, he had estimated the original Batmobile to be worth somewhere around $2 million (later $3-4 million, as he now said).
