Up for bid are the good parts of an official GoWesty kit (years 83-91, kit AUX-700) that was installed last spring and removed last winter. No guarantees, but there is no reason this should not work - circuit was protected and not exposed to excessive heat, cold, water, or force. Comes with the GoWesty installation instructions so that you can install an auxiliary battery setup in your VW Westfalia or other Vanagon / camper van. You will need some wire and connectors, but these are the big items that come in the $69.95 GoWesty Kit, so if you have a local hardware store you can definitely save yourself some cash. Please read the description and look at the auction photos carefully and ask all questions before bidding. Everything included is in the photos.
  • Bussmann (CBP-50BA) 50 Amp Circuit Breaker ($7.50 new on Amazon). One mounting tab is broken off (it came that way from GoWesty believe it or not) but I just used a washer to hold it down (included). See pictures.
  • AMETEK (SAS-4208) Switch Type SAS Solenoid Switch ($25 new on Amazon)
  • Inline fuse on 12 AWG red wire and a 20AMP fuse
  • Length of 12 AWG black wire (ground)
  • Brass male to ring connector
  • Printed instructions with photos. There are check marks and X's on the sheets of paper where steps were marked off, but the instructions are still legible.
Thanks for looking!

Councils to cut roadworks red tape

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

COUNCILS in England could soon have the power to cut red tape and make road works much quicker and more accountable. The plan is to introduce permits for any company that wants to dig up a road, which means they will have to co-ordinate their work with other companies and local authorities to reduce the impact of delays on the public. The permit scheme could come into force as early as April 2015 and means anyone applying for a permit to carry out road works will need to present a convincing case for the work.

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

As if having the talent to race a Formula One car wasn’t enough, it turns out that some of our favourite F1 stars are pretty handy with a camera, too. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC) is set to benefit from a second Zoom Photographic Charity Auction, which includes signed examples of pictures taken by F1 drivers and team principles during the 2013 season. Let’s take a look at a selection of the images, starting with this pit stop picture from Scuderia Toro Rosso team boss, Franz Tost.

BMW i3 ‘virtual test drive’ app (2013) CAR review

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

Though we’ve seen new the BMW i3 in full production trim, and had a ride in the carbonfibre electric city car, there’s still a short wait before anyone can get behind the wheel of a showroom-spec example in the UK – or is there? BMW has launched a smartphone and tablet app – ‘BMW i3: Become Electric’, which it claims allows users to virtually test drive the new i3 without so much as setting foot outside their front door, yet alone finding the time to head to a BMW dealership. It’s available now on the Apple App Store, and from 26 September 2013 on Google Play.
