Nissan Townpod concept preview
Thu, 09 Sep 2010Nissan has just released this image of its new Townpod concept, which offers insight into how the brand could expand its portfolio of zero-emission vehicles. It will be displayed at the Paris motor show. Designed to offer zero-emissions mobility to a future generation of home-based, innovative entrepreneurs who are creative and tech-savvy, the Townpod "combines eye-catching design with a spacious and practical interior," Nissan says. "[It's] more than just a car and it's more than just a van – it heralds a new-era of flexible, stylish vehicles that will bring electric-vehicle mobility to the masses." Concept Car of the Week: Pontiac Banshee (1964)
Fri, 22 Aug 2014In 1964, the Pontiac Motor Division was headed John DeLorean, who would go on to become one of the automotive industry's most divisive figures. He believed that Pontiac needed a compact, exciting car to compete with the newly launched Mustang and approved funding for the experimental Pontiac two-seat sports-car program, codenamed XP-833. Inspired by another GM show car, the rear-engined Corvair Monza GT from 1963, the lines of the XP-833 were a perfect example of the Coke-bottle bodystyle: long hood, short deck and sweeping fender curves.
This week in 1994: We meet the Rolls-Royce Flying Spur
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Rolls-Royce introduced the Flying Spur in 1994 as the fastest vehicle the brand had ever made. Its top speed was 140 mph and it flew to 60 mph in seven seconds flat with the help of the 6.75-liter turbocharged V8 under the hood. The only catch?
