GMC Granite concept (w/ Video)
Mon, 18 Jan 2010The biggest surprise at the 2010 NAIAS was GMC's Granite concept - a design that expands (or rather contracts) the truck/crossover brand's 'professional grade' philosophy to a compact hatchback aimed at urban hipsters and early adopters. Conceived by Frank Saucedo's Advanced Design team in California and then built at GM's Design Center in Detroit, the Granite combines the basic proportions of the Nissan Cube and Scion xB with a military/industrial feel inspired by the current G-Star and Diesel fashion lines. Now you can add the Range Rover Sport HSE ‘Red’ and ‘Luxury’ Editions to the list of Land Rover ‘end of range’ special editions to go along with the Range Rover Westminster and Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE Luxury Special Edition, which has been revealed this morning at the New York Auto Show. The Range Rover Sport HSE Red comes in a choice of Firenze Red, Orkney Grey, Fuji White and Santorini Black with a black mesh grill with a Nobel bezel and black surround with bonnet badge and tailgate finisher in silver and a red ‘Sport’ badge at the back.

At just 2600mm in length and 1600mm wide, the Lotus supermini is even smaller than a Toyota iQ, but manages to match the Toyota’s 3+1 layout. The crucial aspect of the design is the aluminium spaceframe in the floor, which houses the batteries and electrical gubbins, while also providing stiffness and crash resistance.
