No longer satisfied with producing brilliantly engineered but worthy cars, Japanese manufacturers had ambitions of taking on the Europeans in the luxury market. Wed, 12 Sep 2012Nissan has added another entry to the list of things see at the upcoming Paris motor show in the shape of its TeRRA SUV concept. The TeRRA is a seeming oxymoron as an electric SUV, mixing two of Nissan's strongest market segments into a vehicle that resembles a cross between a Leaf and a Patrol. "You have the big tires, high belt-line, thick pillars and thin side windows of the SUV vocabulary,” explains Shiro Nakamura, Nissan senior vice president and chief creative officer.
Nissan to revive Datsun brand for emerging markets, report says
Fri, 02 Mar 2012The Datsun nameplate may soon be revived by Nissan Motor Co. as a low-cost sub-brand for emerging markets such as Russia and India. The Japanese carmaker plans to relaunch Datsun in 2014 and initially start selling the cars in Russia, India and Indonesia, Japan's Nikkei business daily reported.
