Chevrolet Volt uses parts made from oil-collecting booms

General Motors is transforming about 100 miles of boom material used to soak up oil in the Gulf of Mexico into auto parts for the Chevrolet Volt. The oil-soaked plastic material collected off the Alabama and Louisiana coasts will keep more than 100,000 pounds of waste from the nation's landfills. The project is expected to make enough plastic to supply the first-year production of Volts with plastic parts for under the hood.

It is the last morning of the Autoweek America Adventure, as I write this. Our traveling circus heads toward the big top in an hour or so, and we should be in Las Vegas before noon. There is anticipation in the air, unlike other rallies I've attended, as this one has a significant main prize: a 2011 Mopar Charger will be given to one lucky contestant on the stage at the Specialty Equipment Market Association convention.

2011 Hyundai i10 Facelift As Hyundai continues to moveĀ upmarketĀ - certainly in terms of perception – its design becomes more European mainstream. Its ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ (Pretentious? Moi?) design – seen in more recent cars like the ix35 – is now translated to suit the Hyundai i10, and creating a facelift for the 2011 Hyundai i10 in the process, with new bumpers and lights effecting the majority of the change.
