Union Oil first Introduced "76" Gasoline in 1932. The name referred to the 1776 United States Declaration of Independence, and was also the Octane Rating of the gasoline in 1932.

Union 76 Invented the Antenna Topper Concept.

Beginning in 1967, Union 76 Company started giving away Styrofoam Antenna Balls—miniature versions of the advertising icon. The promotion was a great success. They were a Symbol of West Coast car culture, and are still in demand today.

Many stations had the 76 ball rotate when the signs were lit up. The first such sign was designed in 1962 by advertising creative director Ray Pedersen for the Seattle World's Fair.

In 2005, new corporate owners ConocoPhillips began a rebranding campaign to unify the design elements of each of the merged brands (76, Phillips, and Conoco). As a part of this re-branding, there was an initial decision to pull down all the Orange Ball signs and Replace them with monument-style signs in the Red Orange and Blue color. Worst of all, they started Removing and Destroying the familiar 76 Orange ball signs.

2012 Porsche 911 – Details

Wed, 29 Dec 2010

The 2012 Porsche 911 - grows in size It’s always the same when a new Porsche 911 comes along; it’s ‘spot-the-change’ time as Porsche reveals another evolution in the long history of its most iconic marque. So with a new 911 due in 2012 it’s perfectly reasonable to expect some nips and tucks to the body and a fettling of the oily bits to drag a bit more performance a bit more economically. Nothing too dramatic; just another chapter in the 911′s evolution.

2016 Ford Focus RS hits the Nurburgring (video)

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

2016 Ford Focus RS hits the Nurburgring One car Ford has failed to produce in the latest Focus is the Focus RS, but that is set to change with plans for a new range-topping Focus RS hitting Ford’s showrooms in 2016, a year before the current Focus is due for an update. So it’s no surprise to see Ford starting to blat the new Focus RS round the Nurburgring – albeit using a Focus ST as a mule for the RS’s powertrain – ahead of a probable reveal late in 2015. Almost certainly powering the new Focus RS is the 2.3 litre EcoBoost from the new Ford Mustang, which gets 304bhp in the Mustang but which is expected to get as much as 345bhp in the new RS – as much as the old Focus RS500 managed.
