Condition:New

This is a one off, I started making this boat hook about 10 years ago to go with a boat I was restoring, long story short I sold the boat before I finished this, after about a year I finally finished it. Made of white oak and african mahogany the pieces were machined to thickness, placed in a steamer for a hour and a half, when removed all the pieces were worked into a jig, after 2 months of drying out to keep there shape they were removed and laminated with west system marine epoxy and placed back into the jig, when the epoxy cured it was removed and the real work started, it was hand tooled with several draw knives to round it and bring it to shape, the ball was cut with a chisel, it's all one piece and unbelievably strong, the bronze hook was purchased from a marine supply house and fitted, after a ton of sandpaper the hook was removed and seven coats of marine spar varnish applied sanding between coats. It's been sitting in my office closet for 6 years or so and has some minor superficial dings in the varnish that can be seen in certain light. I designed the bent hook as a life saving device, I fell off the boat a lot, it's easy to handle from either end. It stands 6 feet 1 inches tall.
