Bronze tiller fitting and oak handle removed from 30 ft 1936 Kings Cruiser in 1976 and stored since. Curved handle with ball on end. About 43" from center of rudder post to end of handle. Rudderpost shaft fitting tapers from 1 1/4" to 1 1/8" in about 1 3/4" of fitting and has two opposite keyways, one is 1/4" and the other is 1/8"
The fitting has no markings I can see but all other deck fittings were by Merriman and I believe this is also. Three 3/8 " mounting holes in handle and fitting has shallow bevel head holes on starboard and 3/8" fine thread holes opposite in the fitting but the threads on the center one (with the bolt) are stripped. Handle has some checks and wack marks but none significant and little by way of stain marks in the oak. Overall considering it's age, it's in good shape and I wouldn't hesitate to clean it up & sail it, but not offshore. |

Not because GQ Magazine objected, but because Audi did. It seems the man at the four rings took umbrage at a Qoros model name with ‘Q3′ in it, so it’s now the Qoros 3 or, specifically, the Qoros 3 Sedan.

Thu, 01 May 2014Twenty years ago today – 1 May 1994 – the world lost arguably the most talented Formula One driver ever: Ayrton Senna. Numbers alone don’t quite describe the genius the Brazilian driver showed at the wheel of all manner of cars throughout his career, finding time and speed where others simply couldn’t. So, on the 20th anniversary of Senna’s death in a tragic accident at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Imola – only a day after Roland Ratzenberger, a young Austrian driver and friend of Senna, also sadly lost his life, while qualifying – we’re celebrating the life of one of Formula One’s most charismatic drivers.
